In 2004, Poonam Kumari and her brother were sent to India to stay with family, unaware that their lives would take a different turn, 20 years down the line, Poonam didnt hold back despite the fact that she had not seen her parents in years, kept pushing tirelessly for citizenship.
Poonam also spoke about how hard she aspired to become an Indian citizen. on two occasions her applications were denied because of her missing document that she was unable to locate.
Poonam applied for citizenship once more this year,under the provisions of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act of 2019 (CAA). Poonam said, she was filled with accomplishment, Now I can’t wait to visit Pakistan to meet everyone I love that I haven’t seen ,” said Poonam.
