Jay-Z says he cried with help when his mum disclosed to him that she is gay.
"I was so glad for her that she was free," the rapper disclosed to David Letterman on his newNetflix appear.
Jay-Z raps about the minute in the song'Smile' on his most recent collection '4:44'.
"Mom had four children, however she's a lesbian/Had to imagine so long that she's an artist. Needed to cover up in the wardrobe, so she cure/Society disgrace and the agony was excessively to take."
Later in the track, the 47-year-old says he's cheerful his mom has discovered love once more.
"Envision having carried on with your life for another person. Also, you believe you're securing your children," Jay-Z said on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
"For my mom to need to live as somebody that she wasn't and stow away and like, secure her children — and would not like to humiliate her children… for this time.
"For her to sit before me and let me know, 'I think I adore somebody'. That is to say, I truly cried."
The rapper says he'd known for quite a while however just addressed his mum about it eight months back, when the collection was being recorded.
